South Dakota State jackrabbits past Western Illinois, 87-50

SOUIX FALLS, S.D. (AP) Top-seeded South Dakota State used a fast start and a deep bench to open the Summit League tournament with an 87-50 rout of No. 8 seed Western Illinois Saturday.

The Jackrabbits subbed deeply in the first half, using 14 players before halftime with 12 of them scoring by game's end. George Marshall scored 13 points to lead the charge, with Deondre Parks adding 12 and Keaton Moffitt scoring 11 points off the bench. Marshall and Parks scored 21 points combined in the first half to kick-start the romp.

South Dakota State (22-9) opened a 29-point advantage in the first half, 50-21, and cruised to the finish to advance to the semifinals, where they will meet the winner of the game between No. 4 seed Fort Wayne and No. 5 seed South Dakota.

J.C. Fuller scored 19 points to lead the Leathernecks (8-20).
