S. Dakota State beats S. Dakota, advances in Summit tourney

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) Deondre Parks scored 21, and George Marshall had 14 points and eight rebounds on Monday night to lead top-seeded South Dakota State past No. 5 seed South Dakota 78-65 in a Summit League tournament semifinal.

South Dakota State (23-9), which improved to 20-1 this season when leading at halftime, will play either No. 2 seed North Dakota State or third-seeded Oral Roberts in the championship game on Tuesday.

South Dakota (17-16) made just two of its first 13 field goal attempts and the Jackrabbits led 17-5 with 12 minutes left in the first half.

South Dakota State went on a 15-4 run later in the half for a 22-point lead with 2:58 left and led 44-29 at halftime.

The Coyotes, which shot just 37 percent and made 4 of 19 from 3-point range, trailed by double digits throughout the second half.

Tyler Larson led South Dakota with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
