Manhattan coach Steve Masiello was asked on SI Now on Friday how he convinced Manhattan to bring him back as head coach this season.

Masiello was reportedly set to become the next head coach at South Florida last March before a background check revealed false information on his résumé.

Manhattan announced in April that Masiello would be reinstated as head coach after he completed his degree at Kentucky.

"I told them the truth," Masiello said on Friday. "I told them what took place, what I believed, what I thought happened. And as far as my players, they were aware of what was going on the whole time. I spoke to them about possibly leaving. I spoke to them about the option with South Florida -- they were aware of it. So it was easy to go back, because I had their full support with every decision I made."

The Jaspers went 19-13 this season and won the MAAC Tournament to earn their second consecutive NCAA Tournament bid.
