Former West Virginia QB Pat White retires from CFL
Former West Virginia quarterback Pat White announced his retirement from the Canadian Football League last week, Chris O’Leary of the Edmonton Journal reports.
White, 29, played last season for the Edmonton Eskimos. He had 159 rushing yards, 54 passing yards and five total touchdowns during his lone season in the CFL.
Edmonton head coach Chris Jones said that a season-ending concussion likely played a role White’s decision to retire from the league.

“He’s had a history with a certain injury, and he just didn’t want to face that,” Jones said of White, whose season was ended by a concussion sustained in the regular-season finale against the B.C. Lions on Nov. 1.
White led West Virginia to wins in four bowl games from 2005 through 2008 and finished his college career with 6,049 passing yards, 56 passing yards and 23 interceptions. He also rushed for 4,480 yards and 47 touchdowns.
White was a second-round pick by the Dolphins in the 2009 draft. After playing in 13 games as a rookie, he never played in another game.
