Maryland PG Melo Trimble will return to school next year
Freshman point guard Melo Trimble will return to Maryland for his sophomore season next year, the school announced on Wednesday.
Trimble had conditioned his entry into the NBA draft this year on a team guaranteeing to take him in the first round, according to 247Sports.
The freshman averaged a team-best 16.2 points as well as 3.9 rebounds and three assists in a season in which he earned first-team All-Big Ten honors and helped Maryland to its first NCAA tournament appearance since the 2009-2010 season.

"We did our due diligence and also had a number of great discussions with Melo and his mom regarding what would be best for his future," Terps coach Mark Turgeon said. "He is excited about playing with a great team and is looking forward to his sophomore year at Maryland."
The Terrapins earned a No. 4 seed in the NCAA tournament. They defeated Valparaiso in their first game, but lost to West Virginia in the round of 32. Trimble sustained a concussion in the team's loss to the Mountaineers.
He also shot 41.2% from three-point range and finished fourth in the nation in made foul shots. He closed out the year just 14 points short of the school's freshman scoring record, held by Joe Smith.

Maryland finished the season 28–7 overall and 14–4 in the Big Ten.
