Old Dominion advanced to the NIT semifinals after a buzzer beater from Trey Freeman knocked off Murray State on Wednesday.

Murray State had tied the game at 69-69 with a Jeffery Moss three-pointer with 3.5 seconds remaining. After a timeout, Old Dominion got the ball to Freeman, who nailed a running three-pointer and sent the Monarchs rushing onto the court.

Freeman, a junior guard, led all players with 25 points on an 11-of-21 shooting effort. He also added four assists in 36 minutes.

Sophomore guard Cameron Payne led Murray State with 23 points.

The win advanced Old Dominion to the NIT semifinals for the first time since 2006.

Old Dominion, the No. 1 seed in Region 4, will face Stanford March 31 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Stanford is the No. 2 seed in Region 3.
