Diamond Stone, one of the country's top prep big men, committed to the University of Maryland Friday in what is an enormous recruiting victory for coach Mark Turgeon, according to Scout.com.
The 6 foot 10 inch center out of Milwaukee, Wisc., was considering Wisconsin, Oklahoma State and Connecticut in addition to Maryland, the report said. He also received offers from Kentucky and Arizona, among other top programs.
The five-star recruit is ranked as 2015's No. 4 overall high school basketball prospect in the country by Scout, and the seventh-best recruit in the country by ESPN.com's recruiting rankings.
Stone will join a Maryland recruiting class that features point guard Jaylen Brantley, a junior college transfer.
Last year, Turgeon made waves by landing star point guard Melo Trimble, one of the country's top shooting guards in the 2014 recruiting class.
