Reports: Rhode Island coach Dan Hurley agrees to contract extension
Rhode Island head coach Dan Hurley will sign a contract extension and is no longer a candidate to replace Steve Lavin at St. John's, according to multiple reports.
The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports and later confirmed by SI's Pete Thamel, among others.
Hurley and URI first began negotiating an extension in February, according to Zach Braziller of the New York Post.

Hurley emerged as a candidate at St. John's last week after Steve Lavin parted ways with the Red Storm. His older brother, Buffalo head coach Bobby Hurley, is also reportedly a candidate, along with three former St. John's players: Iona coach Tim Cluess, and former NBA players Mark Jackson and Chris Mullin.
Hurley has been at Rhode Island since 2012. He led the Rams to a 23-10 record this season and their first NIT appearance since 2010.
