Report: George Mason hires Bucknell's Dave Paulsen as new coach
George Mason has hired Bucknell men's basketball coach Dave Paulsen to the same position, the Washington Post's Steven Goff reports.
ESPN’s Jeff Goodman first reported that the Patriots were interested in hiring Paulsen to replace Paul Hewitt. Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports the school is finalizing a deal with Paulsen.
Hewitt was fired earlier this month following four seasons at the school. The Patriots finished 9-22 this season and went 66-67 during Hewitt’s tenure.
Paulsen, 50, has been the head coach at Bucknell since 2008 and has compiled a 134-94 record during seven seasons. This season the Bison finished with a 19-15 record and a 13-5 mark in the Patriot League. They were the regular season conference champions and lost in the first round of the postseason NIT to Temple this season.

Under Paulsen, Bucknell made the NCAA tournament in 2011 and 2013, losing in the second round each time. The Bison also played in the postseason NIT in 2012.
Prior to taking over at Bucknell in 2008, Paulsen was 170-53 in eight seasons at Division III Williams College, his alma mater, winning a national title in 2003. He was 42-39 in three seasons at Division II Le Moyne from 1997-2000 and 50-28 at Division III St. Lawrence from 1994-97.
