The woman who accused former Alabama defensive tackle Jonathan Taylor of domestic violence recanted her story, the Tuscaloosa, Ala., police department said.

The woman, whose name was not released, told authorities that Taylor became physical with her and damaged her apartment. He was arrested and dismissed from the football program after the woman said that he caused injuries to her neck.

Taylor was later charged with domestic violence third-degree assault and domestic violence third-degree criminal mischief.

The accuser contacted authorities on Monday and said she was not harmed by Taylor. Police then arrested the woman and charged her with false reporting to law enforcement. She was released after posting bond.

Police said the charges against Taylor will be reviewed later.

This is the second time Taylor was arrested for domestic violence in the past year. He was initially arrested on charges of felony assault and domestic battery last July for allegedly striking his girlfriend with a closed fist and choking her during a dorm room argument. A member of Georgia's program at the time, Taylor was dismissed from the team after the arrest. Those charges are still pending.

Taylor, 21, was also arrested in March 2014. He was one of four Georgia players arrested and charged with "theft by deception" for cashing stipend checks twice. Georgia dismissed him from the program.

Alabama coach Nick Saban said after Taylor's latest arrest that he would not apologize for allowing Taylor to play for Alabama despite a previous domestic violence arrest.

“I’m not sorry for giving him an opportunity. I'm sorry for the way things worked out," Saban said. "I'm not apologizing for the opportunity that we gave him. I wanted to try to help the guy make it work. It didn't work."

Taylor enrolled at Alabama in January after spending the 2014 season at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss.
