Xavier has extended coach Chris Mack’s contract for one year through 2021, the school announced on Wednesday

In six years as the head coach of the Musketeers, Mack has won at least 20 games five times and has guided his team to the Sweet 16 three times.

Mack began his career at Xavier in 1999, when he was named the Director of Basketball Operations under the late Skip Prosser, whom he followed to Wake Forest in 2001. In 2004, Mack made his return to the school as an assistant under then-head coach and current Arizona head coach Sean Miller. When Miller made the move to the Wildcats in 2009, Mack was named his successor.

This past season, Mack and the Musketeers finished 6th in the Big East with a 23-14 overall record and 9-9 conference. Despite that, they were given a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament and earned wins over Ole Miss and Georgia State, before Mack fell to Miller and Arizona in the Sweet 16.

Mack has compiled a record of 134-71 at Xavier. He led Xavier won a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference Championships in 2009 and 2010.
