Florida extended the contract of head basketball coach Billy Donovan, keeping him at the school through the 2020 season.

Donovan’s contract details were reported by the Gainesville Sun after an open records request.

Donovan will now make an average of a little over $4 million per season, with his base salary remaining at $220,000. His pay comes largely from television, speaking and apparel deals.

He will receive $3.9 million in compensation next season and $4 million through the remainder of the contract. According to details of the contract, Donovan signed the extension in December.

He will be paid $50,000 for winning an SEC regular season title, $25,000 for winning the Southeastern Conference tournament and $37,500 for reaching the NCAA tournament. Those bonuses increase depending on how far the Gators get in the tournament.

Donovan receives $75,000 for reaching the Sweet 16, $100,000 for reaching the Final Four and $150,000 for winning a national championship.

Donovan, 49, is 502-206 in 21 seasons at Marshall and Florida.

He has spent the last 19 seasons with the Gators, compiling a 467-186 record with two national championships, eight regular season and four SEC tournament titles.

This season, the Gators finished 16-17 and failed to make the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2009.
