Wisconsin's Frank Kaminsky named AP Player of Year

Wisconsin senior forward Frank Kaminsky was voted the Associated Press Player of the Year on Friday. 

Kaminsky received 58 out of a possible 65 votes from the national media panel that also selects the weekly AP poll. 

Duke freshman center Jahlil Okafor came in second place with five votes and Kentucky junior forward Willie Cauley-Stein and Notre Dame senior guard Jerian Grant each received one vote.

Kaminsky is averaging 18.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 blocks for the Badgers and led them to a second straight Final Four. Wisconsin is set to take on Kentucky in the national semifinals on Saturday.

On Tuesday, the 7-foot Kaminsky was named a finalist for the John R. Wooden Award, along with Okafor, Cauley-Stein, Grant and Ohio State freshman point guard D'Angelo Russell. Those five players also made up the AP's first-team All-America team.

Frank Kaminsky hated Kentucky when he was in high school

Last month, Kaminsky was named SI Player of the Year.
