Saban: Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough has knee surgery

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) Alabama coach Nick Saban says running back Bo Scarbrough has had knee surgery.

Scarbrough is a freshman who initially signed in 2014 and enrolled in January. The consensus five-star prospect was injured late in Saturday's scrimmage.

Scarbrough posted Monday on his Twitter page that ''surgery went really good!'' Scarbrough was contending for playing time behind Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake, and Saban says he's hopeful the freshman will be able to return during the season.

Saban says defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson also sprained a knee and ankle in the scrimmage but that it wasn't anything serious.

The Crimson Tide has already lost wide receiver Cam Sims to a torn ACL, and running back Tyren Jones was dismissed from the team following his arrest on a charge of marijuana possession.
