Boise State recruit arrested for bringing gun to high school

A Boise State football recruit was arrested Tuesday after bringing an unloaded gun to his Arlington, Texas, high school, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Authorities at the school searched a backpack belonging to Raymond Sheard, 19, a running back for the Arlington High School football team and 2015 Broncos' signee, after they were alerted by his suspicious behavior, the report said.
Officials found an unloaded handgun, non-prescription drugs and marijuana, according to an Arlington Police Department spokeswoman.

Sheard was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and tampering with an ID, the report said.
He will no longer attend Boise State, the school told the Morning News.
Sheard was the only incoming running back in Boise State's 2015 recruiting class, according to ESPN.com's recruiting database. The school lost star running back Jay Ajayi to graduation.
