Kansas forward Perry Ellis will return for senior season

Kansas forward Perry Ellis will return for his senior season, he announced at the team's awards banquet Monday night.

“There’s still a lot left on the table,” Ellis said. “It'll be best for me to come back.”

Ellis made the announcement after being present with the award for most valuable player, according to the Kansas City Star.

Ellis led the team in both scoring and rebounding last season, with averages of 13.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He shot 45.7% from the field and 39.1% on three-pointers.

A Wichita native, Ellis was the only scholarship player on Kansas's roster this season. 

The Jayhawks were 27-9 this season and won their 11th straight Big 12 regular-season title. They lost Iowa State in the Big 12 tournament final and were eliminated in the NCAA tournament's round of 32 by Wichita State. 

Ellis said he explored his NBA options, but decided a return was in his best interests.

"I went through the process, I heard some first round, a lot of second round," Ellis said. "You can’t rush it. I’ll know when the time comes and it hasn’t come yet."
