Houston is set to hire Hunter Yurachek as its new athletic director, the Houston Chronicle reported Monday. 

Fox Sports reporter Bruce Feldman also reported that Yurachek would become the Cougars' next athletic director. 

Yurachek has served as the associate vice president and COO of Houston athletics since February 2014.

The position became vacant when Mack Rhoades left to become the new AD at Missouri.

Before his tenure at Houston, Yurachek served as the athletic director at Coastal Carolina for more than four years. He was named the FCS Athletic Director of the Year in 2014.

Houston's football team finished 8-5 last season.
