NC State: assistant coach Rob Moxley hospitalized

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) North Carolina State says assistant men's basketball coach Rob Moxley is hospitalized and recovering from an unspecified medical issue.

In a statement Friday, the school didn't reveal the reason for Moxley's hospitalization Wednesday evening, citing privacy for the family. But it says Moxley is ''responsive, in stable condition and recovering.''

The school says it is in regular contact with Moxley's family.

In a statement, coach Mark Gottfried said ''our first priority is with Rob and his family'' and the school appreciates ''support, prayers and thoughts'' for Moxley.

The 46-year-old Moxley has been an assistant throughout Gottfried's four-year Wolfpack tenure. He was previously an assistant at Middle Tennessee State, Charlotte, Maryland, Pfeiffer and Gardner-Webb.

N.C. State is coming off a second trip to the NCAA Sweet 16 in four seasons.
