Ex-Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis still collecting millions from school
Former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis continues to collect big paychecks from the school, taking home over $2 million last year even though he stopped coaching the team in 2009.
From July 2013 to June 2014, Notre Dame paid Weis $2,054,744, according to a federal tax return obtained by ESPN.com.
The school also paid Weis another $2.1 million in compensation in 2012.
Weis was fired by the school in December 2009 and has since collected almost $15 million, including $6.6 million at the time he was not retained by the school. Weis is set to get paid through December 2015, at which point he will have collected a total of $18,966,867 from a buyout.
After he was fired by Notre Dame, he spent one season each as the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs and University of Florida before being hired by Kansas as the Jayhawks' head coach in 2012.
He was fired four games into the 2014 season after compiling a 6–22 record in two-plus seasons at the school and was still owed $5.63 million by Kansas at the time he was fired.

By comparison, current Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly made $1.5 million in 2012 and $1,187,272 in 2013, though those figures don’t include his total compensation.

Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick made more than $1.1 million in 2012, including more than $170,000 in bonuses. He also made $1,353,430 from the school during the 2013 reporting period.
Men’s head baseball coach Mike Brey made $1,712,264 and women's basketball coach Muffet McGraw took home almost $1.5 million from the school during the 2013 reporting period.
Weis, 59, had a 41–49 record in eight seasons as a collegiate head coach and has said he doubts that he will ever coach again.
