LSU offensive lineman Jevonte Domond was arrested Monday on charges of felony domestic abuse with strangulation, the Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office confirmed to SI.com.

The team suspendedDomond in wake of the arrest, an LSU spokesman told The Advocate

According to a police report obtained by The Advocate, Domond's fiancée told sheriff's deputies he “grabbed her from behind by the neck” before lifting her off the ground and dropping her. She told the deputies that she “began to lose consciousness.” She said she sprayed him with pepper spray twice.

Domond also “slammed” the woman onto a couch, bit her on the hip and followed her to the police station after the fight, the alleged victim says.

Domond denied the allegations in a statement to the deputies.

Domond, a junior, transferred to LSU from Glendale Community College outside Phoenix prior to last season. He was the nation's top junior college offensive tackle recruit in his class. He appeared in one game in 2014.
