Former Virginia quarterback Greyson Lambert will transfer to Georgia, ESPN's Joe Schad reports.

Lambert started nine games for the Cavaliers in 2014, completing 59% of his passes for 1,632 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

The junior lost the starting job this spring to fellow junior Matt Johns, with coach Mike London saying the competition, "wasn't close," according to The Washington Post.

Lambert graduated from Virginia in May and will therefore be eligible to play immediately for Georgia.

Florida was also reportedly interested in Lambert, who is originally from Jesup, Georgia.

Georgia seeks to replace graduated quarterback Hutson Mason, who threw for 2168 in 2014. Lambert joins junior Faton Bauta, sophomore Brice Ramsey and redshirt freshman Jacob Park on the Bulldogs' depth chart.
