Ole Miss guard Stefan Moody, the Rebels' leading scorer last season, underwent surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left lower leg and will be out for 8–12 weeks, the team announced Monday.

Moody averaged 16.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season, his first at Ole Miss, and was a first-team All-SEC selection.

Moody, a rising senior, began his career at Florida Atlantic and was dismissed due to academic issues. He spent one season at a junior college before joining the Rebels.

"Stef suffered a tibial stress that our medical staff discovered and repaired as soon as it was diagnosed," head coach Andy Kennedy said in a statement. "Although we hate that he had to go through the surgery and subsequent rehab, Stef is a very strong young man, who we expect to make a complete recovery before the start of team workouts in the fall."
