BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) Indiana University has hired Lyonel Anderson as its head strength and conditioning coach for basketball.

Coach Tom Crean made the announcement on Wednesday.

Anderson joins the program after working as associate director of sports performance for football at the University of Houston. He has helped train more than 40 professional athletes.

Crean says he was looking for someone who was passionate and who could energize his players.

Anderson replaces Je'Ney Jackson, who left Indiana in December to become the strength coach for Kansas University's football team.
