Georgetown received a verbal commitment from 2017 shooting guard Tyler Foster from Baltimore (Gilman School) on Wednesday, reportsThe Baltimore Sun.

As a sophomore at Gilman last season, the 6'5", 175-pound Foster averaged 15 points, six rebounds and three assists per game. He chose Georgetown over offers from Dayton, Southern Mississippi and VCU. St. John’s and UNLV also expressed interest.

Foster, a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, has two more years of high school basketball remaining. He has also starred for Bmore’s Finest 16U team on the Under Armour Association circuit.

“He always loved Georgetown,” Foster’s father, Robert, told the Sun. “He’s been a big Georgetown fan, a big Allen Iverson fan, so naturally he gravitated toward Georgetown early on. It was too good to be true for him. That’s really why he’s getting it done so early.”

Georgetown finished 22–11 last season and 12–6 in Big East play, eventually losing to Utah in the third round of the NCAA tournament.

The Hoyas were ranked No. 23 in SI.com’s post NCAA-tournament power rankings.
