Former Florida State backup quarterback John Franklin III will transfer to East Mississippi Community College and work under new quarterback coach Clint Trickett, reports Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports.

Franklin spent most of his time as a member of the Seminoles' scout team. He missed the team's spring game due to injury.

Franklin announced he was transferring from Florida State in late May before deciding on East Mississippi Community College. Franklin first arrived at Florida State as part of the team's 2013 recruiting class.

Trickett was hired as the Lions' quarterback coach in March after his own playing days at FSU and West Virginia. In May 2013, Trickett transferred to the Mountaineers instead of competing against future Heisman trophy winner Jameis Winston for the starting quarterback role.

The Seminoles added former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golston as a transfer on May 19 for his final season of NCAA eligibility. The quarterback picture at Florida State was already looking crowded for Franklin before Golston's arrival, with redshirt junior Sean McGuire, redshirt freshman J.J. Costeno and freshman De'Andre Johnson on the depth chart for 2015.
