Florida State and Alabama will play each other at the beginning of the 2017 college football season, according to the Palm Beach Post, creating a blockbuster non-conference matchup between two of college football's most successful programs.

The game is slated to take place in Atlanta at what will be the Atlanta Falcons' new stadium, which is currently slated to be completed in March 2017.

With the game's date not yet announced, it's unclear if the two teams will play the first 2017 game among all FBS teams, or if the game will merely mark the beginning of each team's 2017 season.

The programs have played four times in their history. They last played in 2007, with Florida State winning 21–14.

The game will bring together Florida State  coach Jimbo Fisher with his mentor, Alabama coach Nick Saban. Fisher was Saban's offensive coordinator at LSU in the early 2000s.

• LSU QB Anthony Jennings, two other players arrested, suspended
