Former Purdue quarterback Danny Etling has transferred to LSU.

The Tigers confirmed Etling’s signing on Monday. Etling must sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules, but is eligible to play in the 2016 season and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Purdue granted Etling, a former four-star recruit, his release from the program on June 12. Etling started five games as a sophomore in 2014, but was supplanted by Austin Appleby. He competing in the spring to regain his starting job, but the Boilermakers had not released an updated depth chart before his transfer.

Etling, a 6'2", 216-pound quarterback, started the final seven games of Purdue’s 2013 season as a freshman. Over his 13 career games, he competed 238 of 429 passes for 2,490 yards, 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

LSU’s quarterback situation remains unsettled after junior Anthony Jennings was one of three players suspended following arrests on charges of unauthorized entry of a dwelling last week. Jennings started all but one game for LSU last season, with sophomore Brandon Harrison starting the other.
