Fire causes extensive damage to Lou Holtz's Orlando home
A fire caused extensive damage to former Notre Dame coach and ex-ESPN analyst Lou Holtz's Orlando home, according to WESH TV.
The Orlando Fire Department dispatched 50 firefighters to Holtz's home before dawn on Sunday. Footage captured from WESH's helicopter shows significant damage to the $1.5 million house's roof.
Though the fire department has yet to determine the cause of the fire, Holtz told a WESH sister station in Steubenville, Ohio, that it was sparked by a lightning strike.
Holtz, 78, coached Notre Dame from 1986–96 and South Carolina from 1999–2004. He started working as an analyst with ESPN in 2004 and remained with the network through the 2014 season. SI.com's Richard Deitsch reported in April that Holtz and ESPN had mutually agreed to part ways.
