Alabama kicking commit Eddy Pineiro has next to no in-game experience, but he clearly has a big leg. Pineiro posted a video on Twitter Sunday showing him hit a 73-yard field goal.
A former soccer player, Pineiro committed to the Tide earlier this month after attending Alabama's special teams camp. He secured a scholarship offer after impressing head coach Nick Saban.
“We were out there kicking and coach called for four of us to go in the indoor facility to kick for Coach Saban,” Pineiro told AL.com. “I won the kicking competition and felt like I was the best one on there. I handled the pressure and I'm ready to kick at the next level. The pressure didn't bother me. I just went in there and did what I was supposed to do.”
Pineiro originally intended to play soccer at Florida Atlantic but was not cleared academically by the NCAA. He played soccer last year at ASA College, a junior college in Miami. He also worked out with the school's newly-formed football team, but the team did not play any games.
