Four-star quarterback recruit Sean Clifford has committed to Penn State, he announced on Twitter

Clifford, who plays for St. Xavier in Cincinnati, is the eighth-ranked pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2017 by Rivals.com.

“It just felt right,” Clifford told PennLive. “The coaching staff just fit me. That was the one school that really impressed me and I'm just excited about committing.”

The 6'2", 200-pound Clifford is Penn State’s first 2017 commit. He also had offers from Pittsburgh, Louisville, Boston College, Missouri and Cincinnati, among others.

STAPLES: Can Auburn QB Jeremy Johnson live up to the hype?

“Clifford has a very smooth delivery and release that leads to his great accuracy and velocity,” ScoutingOhio.com director Mark Porter told Cincinnati.com. “(He) has very good athletic ability and will beat defenders with his feet when given the chance. Strong base and footwork in the pocket when passing.”
