Indiana sophomore wide receiver J-Shun Harris will miss the 2015 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to IU football reporter Terry Hutchens.

Harris sustained the ACL injury the first week of the summer and will require surgery.

During his freshman season, Harris caught 18 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns, including a pivotal score in Indiana’s 31-27 upset victory at Missouri. Harris also returned 19 kickoffs at an average of 20.6 yards.

According to Hutchens, Harris was expected to be Indiana's punt and kick returner this season.

At Big Ten Media Day on Thursday, Indiana coach Kevin Wilsontold reporters that it's a “tough break” for Harris, but he thinks even without him, the wide receiver group they have is the “most skilled” group he's had at IU.

A preseason media poll by Cleveland.com selected the Hoosiers as its last place finisher in the Big Ten East-Division. Indiana has a conference record of 6-26 over its past four seasons.
