Photos of Oklahoma State’s new Pistol Pete helmets were made public on Monday, showing a new, icy-white style in contrast to last year’s orange-and-black look.

Oklahoma State has featured Pistol Pete as its mascot since 1923, inspiring similar designs from New Mexico State and Wyoming. Last season against Texas Tech, the Cowboys wore chrome versions of the Pistol Pete helmets with black outlining.

On Monday, the newest iterations of the Pistol Pete helmets were revealed in a photo from the San Antonio Express-News’s Tim Griffin. Griffin’s photo showed the icy-white look in front of what looks like the orange version of the helmet, although it is unclear whether the helmets have a chrome finish like last season’s version.

Oklahoma State opens the season on Sept. 3 at Central Michigan. The Cowboys finished 7–6 last season, and defeated Washington in the TicketCity Cactus Bowl.
