Michigan will begin its first season under former San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh on Sept. 3 at Utah.

The Wolverines posted a 5-7 record in 2014, including a 3-5 mark in the Big Ten to finish tied for fourth place in the East Division. Michigan missed a bowl game for the first time since 2009, and only the third time since 1975.

Michigan's hopes this year rely greatly on its quarterback position, which has yet to be determined. The current battle for the starting signal-caller spot is between senior transfer Jake Rudock, junior Shane Morris, freshman Alex Malzone, freshman Zach Gentry and sophomore Wilton Speight.

With last season's leading receiver Devin Funchess departing for the NFL, pressure will be placed on junior Amara Darboh to build on his 473 yards from 2014. Michigan returns just five touchdown catches from last year, including two from Darboh, two from junior tight end Jake Butt and one from sophomore Freddy Canteen.

In 2014, Michigan ranked No. 112 nationally in total offense. The Wolverines ranked No. 7 in total defense.

While Michigan graduated defensive playmakers Jake Ryan, Frank Clark and Brennen Beyer in May, the team returns senior Joe Bolden after a 102-tackle season in 2014, and senior Desmond Morgan, who missed nearly all of last year with an arm injury.
