Ohio State will begin its quest for a repeat College Football Playoff championship Sept. 7 at Virginia Tech.

The Hokies were the only team to defeat the Buckeyes last season. Ohio State won 13 consecutive games after losing to Virginia Tech 35–21 in Columbus, Ohio, during Week 2.

While Ohio State returns arguably the Big Ten’s most talented roster, the season opener became more interesting with the suspensions of defensive end Joey Bosa, receiver Corey Smith and H-backs Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson for violations of athletic department policy.

Later in the season, Ohio State’s Big Ten slate might be easier considering Michigan State will travel to Columbus, as will Minnesota and Penn State. The season-ending rivalry game against Michigan is in Ann Arbor this year, pitting Urban Meyer against Jim Harbaugh in the latter’s biggest game of his return season to the conference.
