Report: Oregon State LB Darrell Songy dismissed from team
Oregon State sophomore linebacker Darrell Songy has been dismissed from the team for neglecting behavioral requirements set for him by the university, The Daily Barometerreported Wednesday.
The Oregonian later confirmed the news.
Songy's dismissal comes one year after he was suspended for the entire 2014 season for “violating athletic department rules.” In April, Songy told The Oregonian that his season-long suspension came after he failed three drug tests before the 2014 season. He returned to OSU's practice field this spring.
Songy played in 12 games his freshman year. He was one of three true freshman to play in 2013 and competed primarily on special teams, collecting nine tackles, which ranked second on the team.

Songy was expected to start for OSU this season. Now, junior Rommel Mageo, redshirt freshman Bright Ugwoegbu, junior Kyle Haley, sophomore Manase Hungalu, freshman Ricky Liuchan, junior Caleb Saulo and redshirt freshman Jonathan Willis are in the mix for starting spots
According to The Oregonian, Songy is likely to play for a junior college this season.
Oregon State opens up on Sept. 4 at home against Weber State.
