USC will begin the second year of the Steve Sarkisian era on Sept. 5 against Arkansas State.

The Trojans finished 9–4 last season, capped by a Holiday Bowl win over Nebraska. Quarterback Cody Kessler is back for his senior season and begins the campaign with Heisman Trophy hype. His top receiving targets are sophomore JuJu Smith and junior Darreus Rogers (who combined for 75 receptions, 969 yards and nine touchdowns last season), although the running back position remains unsettled.

On defense, USC will have to replace All-America end Leonard Williams and linebacker Hayes Pullard. In the secondary, Adoree’ Jackson returns—though he figures to see more reps on the other side of the ball after his 71–yard touchdown catch-and-run in the Holiday Bowl—and Iman Marshall, the Trojans’ top recruit, will make his debut.
