Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops said on Monday the program dismissed sophomore offensive lineman Marcelys Jones for a violation of team rules.

“I have some other sad news that you’ll probably hear about. Marcelys Jones, I had to dismiss him from the team for a violation of team rules, and he will no longer be with us,” Stoops told reporters.

Jones transferred from Ohio State this summer out of a desire for more playing time. A former Army All-American who was a part of Ohio State’s 2014 recruiting class, Jones would have been required to sit out the 2015 season with Kentucky due to NCAA transfer rules.
