Former four-star recruit and quarterback Ricky Town will transfer out of USC, the team announced Sunday.

Town finished high school early and enrolled at USC last January as part of the Trojans' 2015 recruiting class. He was a verbal commit at Alabama before switching over to USC.

“We wish him the best of luck,” Sarkisian said, reports the Los Angeles Times. “He's worked extremely hard, he's been a great member of our program and I'm sure wherever he decides to go, he'll be a good member of that program as well.”

Town was one of two quarterbacks in the Trojans' 2015 class. The other, Sam Darnold, is expected to take Town's No. 3 spot on the depth chart for the upcoming season.

Senior Cody Kessler is still the team's No. 1 quarterback, and he is backed up by redshirt sophomore Max Browne.

The Trojans open the 2015 season, the second for coach Steve Sarkisian, Sept. 5.
