Report: LSU safety Jalen Mills out 4-6 weeks with fractured fibula

LSU safety Jalen Mills fractured his fibula in practice Wednesday and is expected to miss four to six weeks, according to the Times-Picayune.

The school confirmed Mills was hurt, but did not specify the nature of his injury.

A four-year starter and All-SEC first team selection last season, Mills' timetable potentially puts him in-line to return for LSU's home game against Auburn on Sept. 19. He would miss a game against McNeese State at home Sept. 5 and possibly one at Mississippi State on Sept. 12.

Mills has started all 39 games in his collegiate career and is the Tigers' most experienced player. He made 62 tackles last year and has 186 total in three seasons at LSU, to go with six interceptions and 13 passes defended.

Junior Rickey Jefferson, brother of former LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson, is reportedly likely to replace Mills in the lineup for the time being. LSU also has positional depth in junior Corey Thompson.
