Nebraska WR De’Mornay Pierson-El (foot) out six to eight weeks
Nebraska wide receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El will miss six to eight weeks with a foot injury, head coach Mike Riley announced Wednesday.
Pierson-El, a sophomore, played all 13 games as a freshman last season. He started six games and took over as the Huskers’ punt returner in the second game of the year.
Pierson-El led the nation with 596 yards on punt returns last season, and averaged 17.5 yards per punt return, which was the second-best average in Div. I. He also caught 23 passes for 321 yards and four touchdowns.
Pierson-El was a Freshman All-America choice last season and a preseason All-America selection this year. He is also on the watch list for the Paul Hornung award, given to the most versatile player in college football.
