Utah will wear ‘satin red’ helmets in season opener vs. Michigan

The Utah Utes will wear “satin-red” helmets with red face masks in their season opener against the Michigan Wolverines on Sept. 3, the team announced Wednesday.
The new satin-red helmets may find use in other games as well, senior associate athletics director Liz Abel toldThe Salt Lake Tribune.
Utah wore white and black helmets last season, which were a popular choice among players at their unveiling last September. Last year's new helmets were two-toned and chrome, which was a move away from the traditional matte black helmets that featured a small drum and feather logo.
The team has already revealed the throwback uniforms that will be worn against California on Oct. 10.
