Running back C.J. Hilliard will transfer from Iowa to be closer to his home in Cincinnati.
Iowa announced the news in a press release. Hilliard was a three-star recruit out of St. Xavier (Oh.) High in the class of 2014. He redshirted last season as a true freshman.
"C.J. has elected to transfer to another institution closer to home to continue his academic and football pursuits," Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said in a statement. "C.J. had a tremendous attitude in our program and we wish him the best."
Hilliard held offers from schools including Akron, Bowling Green, Miami (Ohio), Ohio and Toledo out of high school. His younger brother Justin is a linebacker at Ohio State.
