Texas A&M sophomore quarterback Kyle Allen will start the Aggies' opening game against No. 15 Arizona State on Sept. 5, the team announced Monday.

Allen overtook starter Kenny Hill as a true freshman late last year, throwing for 1,322 yards in ten games. He led the Aggies to a 29-19 win over third-ranked Auburn in just his second start.

Allen was also named the MVP of the Liberty Bowl, tossing 294 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-37 win over West Virginia.

During this off-season, Texas A&M signed Kyler Murray, the fifth-best quarterback in this year's recruiting class, according to Rivals. Texas A&M's roster also features quarterbacks Jake Hubenak and Conner McQueen.

Kenny Hill will sit out this season after transferring to TCU. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
