(STATS) - It turns out Saturday's first college football game may not be the most intriguing season opener in the FCS.

With a simple announcement of the Oregon depth chart Friday, the opener for Eastern Washington became a game not to miss - similar to Saturday's FCS Kickoff between four-time defending national champion North Dakota State and Montana.

Oregon has graduate transfer Vernon Adams Jr. atop its depth chart at quarterback for the first week of the season. The Ducks happen to be hosting Adams' former school, FCS No. 6 Eastern Washington, on Sept. 5.

Adams ruffled a few feathers within the Eagles' program - the three-time defending Big Sky Conference champions - when he announced in the offseason that he'd play his final season at Oregon.

In 37 games at Eastern Washington, Adams accounted for 11,670 total yards (10,438 passing, 1,232 rushing) and 121 touchdowns (110 passing, 11 rushing).

His stature (5-foot-11, 210 pounds) and dual-threat playing style has drawn comparisons to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. In 2011, Wilson graduated from North Carolina State and then spent his final season of eligibility at Wisconsin.

Oregon listed Adams above Jeff Lockie, the backup last season to Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota.
