(STATS) - North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a high ankle sprain in Saturday's season opener and is questionable for the team's next game, coach Chris Klieman said Monday.

Wentz, the Most Outstanding Player of NDSU's FCS national championship game win last January, was injured during the second half of the top-ranked Bison's 38-35 loss at No. 13 Montana.

With a bye this week, Klieman said Wentz will not practice and the team will evaluate the fifth-year senior's status before facing Weber State on Sept. 12.

Against Montana, Wentz was 16 of 28 for 198 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.

NDSU, which has won a record four straight FCS national titles, lists redshirt freshman Easton Stick as its No. 2 quarterback.
