KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Tennessee freshman wide receiver Vincent Perry will miss the entire season with a knee injury.

Perry got hurt during practice last week and underwent arthroscopic knee surgery along with wide receiver Jason Croom on Friday. Jones announced the severity of Perry's injury Monday and also said Croom's potential return ''could be three weeks, could be up to five weeks.''

Jones also indicated there's a '':slight chance'' senior safety LaDarrell McNeil could play this season but added, ''Is it a long shot? Yes.''

Croom caught 21 passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns last season. McNeil ranked fourth on the team with 76 tackles. Perry was a consensus three-star recruit from Nashville.

The 25th-ranked Volunteers open the season Saturday against Bowling Green at Nashville's Nissan Stadium.
