Bleacher Report’s Jason King was the first to report the suspension.
Oakman, a third-team All-America selection by the Associated Press and honorable mention selection by Sports Illustrated, traveled with the Bears to Dallas on Thursday but was suspended for one game for an unspecified violation of team rules, reports King.
Defensive back Orion Stewart was also suspended for one game.
As a junior last season, Oakman set Baylor’s single-season record with 11 sacks (12th-most in the country) and added 51 tackles with three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and three pass deflections.
Oakman, who transferred from Penn State in 2012, has appeared in 33 games for Baylor over his seasons with the program.
Stewart was named a first-team All-Big 12 defensive back by the Associated Press and honorable mention selection by conference coaches last season after recording 82 tackles with four interceptions and three pass deflections.
Baylor finished 11–2 last season before losing in the Cotton Bowl to Michigan State. Oakman had three tackles and one sack in the game. Stewart recorded 10 tackles.
