Rutgers dismisses FB Lloyd Terry; is sixth player arrested in week
Rutgers redshirt sophomore fullback Lloyd Terry became Thursday the sixth member of the team to be arrested in connection with alleged home invasions, armed robbery and assault that occurred this spring, according to NJ.com.
A university spokesman told NJ.com that Terry was dismissed from the team immediately after his arrest.
Terry was charged with armed robbery, armed burglary and conspiracy to commit armed robbery after he, Andre Boggs (a starting cornerback on this year’s team) and Tejay Johnson (a former Rutgers player) allegedly forced their way into a home in New Brunswick to rob five Rutgers students on April 26.
In a connected incident, four other current players (Ruhann Peele, Nadir Barnwell, Rahzonn Gross and Delon Stephenson), as well as former player Daryl Stephenson, Delon’s brother, were arrested after they allegedly attacked a group of at least four people on April 25, with a 19-year-old male suffering a broken jaw.
The seven arrests previous to Terry’s came last week. Rutgers dismissed the current players (Boggs, Peele, Barnwell, Gross and Delon Stephenson) last Saturday.
Terry, a walk-on, had appeared in one game in his career.
The arrests and dismissals come while head coach Kyle Flood is being investigated by the university for whether he improperly contacted a professor about a player’s grade. (Barnwell is the player involved.)
Rutgers beat Norfolk State 63–13 last week in its season opener. The Scarlet Knights host Washington State on Saturday.
