Notre Dame avoided an upset against Virginia on Saturday thanks to a late touchdown pass from DeShone Kizer to Will Fuller.

Kizer entered the game after an injury to starter Malik Zaire. After a 13-play, 80-yard drive put the Cavaliers ahead 27-26, the No. 9 Fighting Irish responded with an eight-play drive culminating in the touchdown pass with 12 seconds left.

Kizer finished the game completing eight of 12 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Zaire had thrown for 115 yards and a score before leaving the game.

Virginia quarterback Matt Johns played well in the near-upset. He threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns.

Ohio State replaces Cardale Jones with J.T. Barrett in second quarter

Notre Dame will face Georgia Tech at home next week.
