Ohio State replaces Cardale Jones with J.T. Barrett in second quarter

Ohio Statereplaced quarterback Cardale Jones with J.T. Barrett in the second quarter of Saturday's game against Hawaii.

Barrett entered and led the Buckeyes on a touchdown drive to give them a 14–0 lead over the Rainbow Warriors.

Jones completed six of nine passes for 82 yards before being removed. He finished the game 12 of 18 for 111 yards after being reinserted following halftime. Barrett completed eight of 15 passes for 70 yards in his time on the field. Neither threw a touchdown.

Jones won the Buckeyes’ off-season quarterback battle, starting Week 1 against Virginia Tech. Barrett threw one pass and ran once against the Hokies. Jones found out he won the job right before Ohio State’s first series.

Meyer said earlier this month he expected both Jones and Barrett to play “throughout the course of [the] year.”
